Temperature limit: based on the lowest temperature at which an average adult male (25 years/70 kg/173 cm) can count on sleeping comfortably in a relaxed posture. An experienced user can optimise insulation by knowing how to choose clothing and taking other factors into account.

Extreme temperature: this is a rating for average adult women in terms of survival. Can go for six hours without sleep. No risk of death from hypothermia, but other health risks (e.g. frostbite of limbs).
