Why cotton is a commonly used material ...
Cotton is a natural fiber; as such, it can be renewed, it is biodegradable and it can be produced biologically. It is highly versatile and can be used to produce many fabrics, each with different characteristics. In addition, cotton can be mixed with synthetic fibers such as polyester, to combine the most desired characteristics of both materials. Cotton fabrics are breathable, absorbent and strong. They are used in the manufacture of clothing and mountain equipment, but by themselves they do not repel water.

Cotton is highly absorbent and retains water, so it takes time to dry when it gets wet. Therefore, it is important to ensure that cotton wrap clothing does not absorb water, as this will lead to increased weight and prevent its breathability.
To prevent cotton fabrics from absorbing water, Water Repellent Repellency (DWR) can be added by applying Niwkax Cotton Proof ™.

If the cotton garments are dirty, they will be soaked. First, try cleaning them with Nikwax Tech Wash®, and if they are relatively new, or have been waterproofed recently, Durable Water Repellency (DWR) will be revitalized after cleaning. But once the items have been used, you will need to add DWR using Nikwax Cotton Proof ™ after cleaning them with Nikwax Tech Wash®.
Nikwax Cotton Proof ™ is a safe product for use in warm clothes and cotton equipment. It is aqueous, non-flammable, does not contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and is free of fluorocarbons.

Nikwax Cotton Proof ™ does not require heat to develop your DWR, so it is not necessary to use a dryer for the best results.

Nikwax Cotton Proof ™ can be applied easily and quickly in the washing machine and ensures that the treatment passes through the garment. Nikwax Cotton Proof ™ High Durable Water Repellency (DWR) develops with drying. So there is no need to use a dryer, saving energy.
Nikwax products are aqueous, contain no aerosol, are not flammable, are not harmful and are ecological. They contain no harmful solvents or volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and are completely free of fluorocarbons (which have proven to be persistent in the environment and have been associated with serious health problems).
For best results, always clean your garments first with Nikwax Tech Wash® in a separate cycle. There is no need to dry the garments before waterproofing them. Shake well before using. Follow the care instructions on the label.
For machine wash
1 Clean the detergent buildup from the dispenser.
2 Put the clean clothes in the washing machine (a maximum of 3).
3 Use 50 ml for each garment, 100 ml for every 2 garments and 150 ml for every 3 garments.
4 Wash in accordance with the wash label.

For hand wash.
For best results, always clean items first with Nikwax Tech Wash® before waterproofing. Shake well before using. Follow the care instructions on the label.
Wear gloves (so as not to waterproof your hands!)
1. Soak the clean items in 6 L of hot tap water in a sink or bowl.
2. Use 50 ml each item and 100 ml for each 2 items.
3. Shake to mix, let soak for 5 minutes and then shake vigorously.
4. Rinse with cold water until the water is clear.
Air dry or tumble dry low if recommended by label. To maintain the waterproofing wash with Nikwax Tech Wash®. Do not use conventional detergents.

For tent
For best results always clean your items first with Nikwax Tech Wash®. It is not necessary to dry the items before waterproofing them. Shake well before using.
Wear gloves (to avoid waterproofing your hands!).

Protect the surface to work and extend the store clean.
Add a part of the product with nine parts of water and mix well.
Apply the diluted product evenly on the outside of dry or wet tissue with a brush or sponge (make sure the product penetrates the surface of the fabric). For larger items, apply it in sections.
While treating the fabric, remove any excess with a damp cloth.
After several minutes, check it and remove any excess with a damp cloth *.
* Some brands may appear on the fabric if excess product is not removed. Test in a hidden area first.

Use approximately 50 ml of product, before diluting it, for every 3m² of tissue. The extension of the area is approximate and depends on the condition of the tissue to be treated.

Durable Water Repellency (DWR) will develop when the tissue dries. Allow items to dry well before storing.

To maintain the waterproofing always clean with Nikwax Tech Wash®. Do not use conventional detergents. To waterproof synthetic stores use Nikwax Tent & Gear SolarProof®
