Criterion Expedition 900 Down Sleeping Bag
Product no.: CE900RH
Description
OUR LIGHTEST EXPEDITION SLEEPING BAG
The Criterion Expedition 900 down sleeping bag is designed for winter Alpinism and extreme cold expeditions, it has been used by British Antarctic Survey. With a comfort temperature rating of -30°C you can camp out in alpine conditions and mild polar conditions. Its weight is 1570 grams, which is low considering the low comfort temperature.
It is made using a Pertex Quantum Pro (formerly Pertex Endurance) ripstop shell filled with 900g of 850 FP Polish Goose down. Superior Brick construction eliminates cold spots and increases warmth, enabling a comfortable night’s sleep in extremely low temperatures. Neck and zip baffles keep out drafts, whilst 2 way YKK zips enable venting to help you control the temperature inside your sleeping bag.
A DWR treatment of the shell helps protect the down from any dampness that may occur in your tent, from condensation or wet gear. When in its stuff sack, the pack size is 20.5 x 20.5 x 39 cm.
BRICK BAFFLES
Brick Baffles are used for extreme cold weather down sleeping bags, and make use of two layers of offset Boxwall baffles. Trapezoid and V baffles are more thermally efficient than a single layer boxwall baffle, but in situations where much more down is needed Brick Baffles provide extremely high levels of insulation as well having a high warmth to weight ratio. The additional weight and costs of double Trapezoid and double V baffles would not be commercially viable.
Our Expedition 900 and Expedition 1100 down sleeping bags use a Brick construction.
Brick Baffles are used on extreme cold weather bags, (A) Offset stiching minimise heat loss (B) two layers of baffles, allow down to be contained and loft (C) More insualtion traps body heat and helps to keep the bag’s temperature up and you comfortable in the most extreme conditions.
SUGGESTED OUTDOORS ACTIVITIES
The activities most suitable for using a Criterion Expedition 900 sleeping bag are winter alpinism and extreme cold expeditions. With a comfort temperature of -30°C the Criterion Expedition 900 will keep you warm in the worst alpine conditions and in mild polar conditions. The weight of 1570 grams is low for a sleeping bag with this comfort temperature.
