Fatwood 'Maya Stick' Outdoor Origin 179652
Product no.: 283511
Description
For 3800 years, the Maya have used natural pine shavings as candles and lighters. The small trunks have a high resin content that burns more easily and with more heat than paper, wax and other types of firewood. To start a fire in the wild, simply pluck a few shavings from the tinder stick with the back of a knife and light it with the kindling steel. These fire starters are collected from the stumps of the "Pino del Ocote". Over a short period of time, the resin rises from the roots to the stump. The stump is split into small pieces by hand. These pieces are sorted by hand and then packed. Mayan sticks make great firewood that comes from non-endangered, non-deforested trees that have not been cut down for this purpose.
