Description

The Silky Woodboy 240-32 wood saw is a beloved saw amongst woodworkers. As such this saw is perfect when trimming wood. The fine serrations ensure that this saw will easily glide through hard, dry wood. The thin, flexible blade is enhanced with a trapzium shape and the special Silky serrations. As such this saw leaves you with a fine, straight cutting edge. The blade is enhanced with a hollow grind to ensure saw dust does not accumulate.

  • Fine and extra-fine: 13 to 32 teeth per 30 mm
  • The fine teeth configuration is specially developed for dry wood or wood with less moisture in the wood cells, such as apple and oak. Extra fine teeth, such as 26 or 32, are specially designed for woodworkers as furniture makers or instrument builders. When sawing with (extra) fine teeth in fresh wood, the teeth will be filled very quickly.
  • The blades with different teeth configurations within a certain saw series (such as the Pocketboy) are interchangeable within the same blade length.
  • Silky technology
  • The saw blades of Silky saws are made from Authentic Premium Japanese Steel and cut out by laser. The blades are of unparalleled quality: they are very hard and longwearing, but remain flexible at the same time thanks to the metal’s soft core.
  • Hard and wear resistant
  • The chemical composition of the metal in combination with the unique heating and cooling process determine the high hardness of the metal. The high carbon content leads to a high wear resistance, so that the sharpness remains for a very long time.
  • Soft and flexible
  • By forging the saws in such a way, the core of the saw tooth consists of soft metal with which the saw stays flexible and grabs the wood with ease.
  • Furthermore, several models, such as the Sugoi, Hayate and the Tsurugi, are made of high-alloyed steel, which makes the saw blade stronger, more corrosion resistant and better equipped against temperature changes. All saw blades are replaceable and the replacing itself is simple.
  • GOM rubber handle
  • The GOM rubber handle absorbs sawing vibrations and offers a superior grip, even in wet conditions or while wearing gloves. Moreover, this handle always feels comfortably warm, even in extremely cold temperatures.
  • Induction hardening
  • The tips of the teeth are heated up to a very high temperature for a split second. As only the tip (or in other words the cutting part) of the tooth is heated, the rest of the tooth keeps its cutting quality but also its flexibility. Induction hardened teeth have a lifespan of three times that of non-treated teeth. They cannot be sharpened and are recognizable by the black teeth tips.

The Woodboy works with pulling movements. That is why using the Woodboy is almost effortless, enabling you to saw smoothly and with more control. The result is very smooth. When you use it right you don't even have to sand it!

The blade of this Silky saw is very thin and hard. As such it will be amazing to use, but it does require a little attention as you use it. This saw is a pull saw. This means that the blade cannot bend as you use it. Make sure that when moving it forward the blade is never forced. This could namely cause it to break. Always remove the weight to free the saw. As with any saw: let the saw do the work and don't force anything. This won't wear you out as much and will benefit the life of the saw. By holding the handle in many different parts you can control how much wood you remove. Holding it close to the blade means less pressure on the blade and little wood removal. As such you can work accurately. When you hold the handle further back the pressure will be bigger, enabling you to work faster, but less precise.

You can easily place the blade in two modes, to make sure you can work in different sawing positions. Done working? Simply fold the saw to make sure you can safely store it. As such you don't damage the blade or your work station. The Woodboy is a typical saw that will always come in handy when making small, quick cuts. For each project this will be the perfect saw!

For the best results you need to make sure you keep the blade clean. Resin dissolves in olive oil and is therefore an effective and environmentally-friendly way to clean the blade. More aggressive means can damage the rubber on the handle. Properly dry the saw after use and store it somewhere dry.
